Watching her I see bravery
The hug as greeting
Calling each person by name
She sees people
Even while they look past her
Unwilling to see her beauty
Judgement clouds my view
seeing what she is not
ignoring her heart cries
Labelled as difficult
Passed by and over
Wanting only to help, to matter, to belong
Each week she shows up
Hurt for too long, by too many
She risks herself
Her presence, a challenge
Her words, a trigger
Will I choose to listen?
Choose to love her
To honour the Christ in her
And die to my own comfort
Her presence, a challenge
Her words, a trigger
Will I choose to listen?
Choose to love her
To honour the Christ in her
And die to my own comfort
